A Picture a Day 1: The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah, Georgia

Most visitors here probably remember that I took a trip down south in the spring last year to visit some family in Virginia and North Carolina and to travel around the Mid-South a bit. I took a lot of pictures along the way and I am happy with how a bunch of them turned out. So I am going to post a picture from the trip each day for the next little while. It will also encourage me to write more here, I hope!

Let's start with the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in the old part of the old town of Savannah, Georgia, where I spent my second-to-last week. The cathedral hosts the oldest continuous African-American congregation in the United States of America.

It was impossible to get a full shot of the building's facade because of power lines, but I like the angle I got, and the sky really was that impossible deep blue as I walked back to my hostel late on a June afternoon.

You can see a bigger version here (still 72 dpi), and if for whatever reason you might like the full resolution version let me know in the comments and I'll be happy to send it along via e-mail.
